What’s the difference between steam cleaning and hot water extraction?
- Steam Cleaning uses dry vaporised steam for sanitising and deodorising. It’s ideal for hard floors, mattresses, and light fabric refreshes.
- Hot Water Extraction (also known as carpet shampooing) involves injecting water and detergent into the fabric, then extracting it — better for deep stain removal and heavy soiling.
Parla Cleaning provides both services, but steam cleaning is focused on hygiene and light refreshment rather than deep stain removal
What can you steam clean?
We offer steam cleaning for:
- Mattresses (single, double, king)
- Upholstery (sofas, chairs, armchairs)
- Carpets (small areas, rooms, hallways, stairs)
- Hard floors (tiles, vinyl, laminate, stone – sealed only)
Does steam cleaning remove stains?
Steam cleaning is excellent for sanitising and odour removal, but it may not remove deep or set-in stains. If you’re looking for stain removal, we may recommend hot water extraction instead.
Is steam cleaning safe for children and pets?
Yes! Steam cleaning is chemical-free, non-toxic, and ideal for homes with babies, children, or pets.
How long does it take to dry after steam cleaning?
- Mattresses & upholstery: 5-7 hours
- Carpets: 4–7 hours
- Hard floors: Usually dry within 1 hour

Can I combine steam cleaning with other services?

Do I need to prepare anything before the steam clean?
Yes, please:
- Clear the area of small items and fragile belongings
- Ensure we have access to electricity and water
- Arrange parking nearby for our equipment
If parking is not provided, parking charges will be added to your invoice.
If your property is within the Congestion Charge zone, this fee will also be added.
Is there a minimum charge?
Yes, our minimum call-out fee is £60 for steam cleaning services.
Can I cancel or reschedule my booking?
Yes, but please give at least 24 hours’ notice.
We reserve the right to apply a £50 fee for cancellations or changes made within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment.
The same fee will apply if our cleaner is unable to access your property to carry out the work.
